Bronwen Lankers-Byrne was on a hunger strike since 7am on Sunday, 5th February in protest against the construction.

Bronwen, who turns 60 next month, positioned herself on the side of the road, just opposite the construction site of an Office Block and Toll Plaza on Chapman’s Peak Drive with a folding chair, signs, a petition for signatures and lots of water.

    friends in Cape Town
    – the ugly, unnecessary office block planned for Chapman’s Peak is going ahead on Monday.

All attempts to offer alternative environmentally unobtrusive solutions for this world heritage site are being ignored.

Lawyers and Bronwen, the hunger striker, are petitioning Zuma to step into the debate and will present at parliament at 12 midday today. If at all you can add your presence there to show great public protest at this outrage, total lack of democracy, ethics and priorities, please try to be there and forward this to friends. At the Statue in Plein St. thanks !
